Recent Developments

From the Hudson River to Broadway, Prospect Street to Wells Avenue, exciting transformations are changing the face and the character of the neighborhood, none more so than the three-phase daylighting of the Saw Mill River. Phase I exposed the river to create Van der Donck Park. Phase II brings forth Mill Street Courtyard and Phase III will carry the river’s beauty further inland. The Yonkers Library renovation keeps the conversation interesting as a regional hub for lectures and performances. Art dealer Daniel Wolf and artist Maya Lin will repurpose the old city jail (located one block from the Metro-North train station) into a gallery and visual and performing arts showcase.

The old Glenwood Power plant is being transformed into the PowerHouse, an arts-centric event space that will include restaurants, a marina and hotel. New residential developments draw in fresh faces while iPark tech ingenuity plays its part in vibrant working SOYO. New resources like the Science Barge provide great new family activities and as the profile of SOYO rises, so does its popularity as a location to shoot movies and television.
